Belated Happy St. Nicholas Day! In the Western Christian calendar the feast day of St Nicholas is observed on December 6th. Today this day is most widely celebrated in Europe, and different countries have their own way of celebrating on this special day. In some countries, including Germany and the Netherlands, children will leave out an empty shoe the night before for St Nicholas to fill with presents and sweets.
